← Module 7: Asking for What You Deserve
Module 7 · Lesson 2 of 4
Do Your Homework in 15 Minutes
Fifteen minutes of quick research before you ask changes everything — you walk in knowing what's reasonable.
An honest reminder
Lived experience, not licensed financial or legal advice — for anything with real weight, talk to a qualified professional.
There's asking, and then there's asking with numbers. The difference between “Can you lower my bill?” and “I see new customers are getting this for $40 less — can you match that?” is the difference between a shrug and a discount. Knowledge is leverage, love.
And it doesn't take a research department. Fifteen minutes: look up what others pay for the service you use — competitor rates, promo offers, the “new customer” price on their own website. Write the number down. That's your homework, and it's worth more than an hour of rehearsing the perfect tone of voice.
Why does this work? Because now you're not asking for a favor — you're asking for fairness. “I'd like to stay with you, and I'd like a rate that reflects what you're offering others.” That's not confrontation. That's a reasonable person with facts. Be the reasonable person with facts.
Your Now-Step
Spend 15 minutes looking up what others pay for one service you use. Write down the number. Knowledge is leverage, love.
A moment to reflect
Where in your life have you been accepting the first offer — and what would you ask for if you knew you deserved more?
Private — these notes never leave your device.
“Move forward.”
