Module 7 · Lesson 3 of 4
The Ask Script
Exactly how to phrase the ask — warm, direct, and specific — so it feels natural instead of terrifying.
An honest reminder
Lived experience, not licensed financial or legal advice — for anything with real weight, talk to a qualified professional.
You know your number. Now let's build the sentence. The formula is simple: warm opening, specific ask, easy yes. “Hi, I've been a customer for six years and I've been happy — I'd like to talk about lowering my rate to match what you're offering new customers. Can you help me with that?”
Notice what's in there: loyalty (six years), goodwill (been happy), specificity (match the new-customer rate), and a direct question they can say yes to. No threats, no essays, no apologizing for existing. Just a reasonable person making a reasonable request.
Now write yours out word-for-word — for your bill, your situation, your numbers — and say it out loud once. Out loud counts double, because your mouth needs to practice what your brain already knows. It'll feel stiff the first time. Say it twice and it starts feeling like you. The call comes later. Today, the script.
Your Now-Step
Write out your ask word-for-word (“I've been a customer for X years, and I'd like to talk about lowering my rate...”) and say it out loud once. Out loud counts double.
A moment to reflect
Where in your life have you been accepting the first offer — and what would you ask for if you knew you deserved more?
Private — these notes never leave your device.
“Keep going.”
